CM inaugurate­s projects in Salem, Krishnagir­i, D’puri

COIMBATORE/CHENNAI: Chief Minister MK Stalin on Monday inaugurate­d 993 completed projects worth Rs 350.50 crore, laid foundation for 75 new projects at a cost outlay of Rs 114.19 lakh and distribute­d Rs 95.54 crore welfare aid to 8,736 beneficiar­ies in Dharmapuri, Krishnagir­i and Salem districts.

Of this, 879 completed projects worth Rs 151.89 crore were in Dharmapuri, 41 projects worth Rs 34.10 crore in Krishnagir­i and 73 projects worth Rs 164.51 crore in Salem.

Assuring that the second phase of Hogenakkal combined drinking water scheme will be implemente­d at a cost outlay of Rs 7,890 crore, Stalin said several developmen­t works were being taken up at Hogenakkal for the convenienc­e of tourists. Land acquisitio­n works are underway for Morappur-Dharmapuri broad gauge works.

CM Stalin also announced various projects for the state Health Department. He announced that three community health centers will be constructe­d in Krishnagir­i district at

an estimated cost of

Rs 2.35 crore.

In rural areas, five auxiliary health center buildings and in urban areas, two auxiliary health center buildings will be constructe­d at a cost of Rs 3.15 crore in the district. He also said that a new waiting room will be set up at the Unichetty Primary Health Centers, which will help the tribal people. The room will be set up at an estimated cost of Rs 30 lakh.

Additional­ly, a nutrition and rehabilita­tion center will also be set up at Krishnagir­i Medical College at an estimated cost of Rs 25 lakh. Besides that, 28 Anganwadi centers will be set up at an estimated cost of Rs 9.26 lakh.

A total of 14 community health centers have been announced to be constructe­d in Salem district at an estimated cost of Rs 11.46 lakh each. An Animal Birth Control Centre will also be constructe­d in the district to prevent the cases of dog bites at an estimated cost of Rs 3 crore.

Talking about the initiation of the constructi­on work of Madurai AIIMS Hospital, he said that the hospital’s foundation stone was laid in 2019, and now the constructi­on work is said to be started. However, he alleged that it will be no surprise if they stop the work after the Lok Sabha election.

Earlier, CM Stalin said, “the AIADMK’s only achievemen­t is to have curtailed the Hogenakkal scheme that would be beneficial for people of Dharmapuri and Krishnagir­i districts.”
