North, central Chennai to get a facelift with PHCs, gyms
CHENNAI: Minister PK Sekarbabu along with Central Chennai MP Dayanidhi Maran on Wednesday laid the foundation and inaugurated infrastructure facilities at Royapuram and Anna Nagar zones.
It’s noted that the Anna Nagar zone will be getting an indoor shuttle stadium and modern gym at Rs 50 lakh each.
The GCC will construct a community centre at Wall Tax road in Royapuram zone at an estimated cost of Rs 8.97 crore for which the foundation stone has been laid by the minister. Similarly, Rs 6.5 lakh has been allocated for the construction of anganwadis in Egmore, and Rs 5 lakh for a carom play area.
The foundation was laid for a road-side park and a football ground in Royapuram zone at Rs 11 lakh and 5.32 lakh respectively, a release from Ripon Building noted. Under the Central Chennai Legislative Assembly constituency development fund, a modern gym will be constructed at a playground in Adi Andhra Nagar in Anna Nagar zone for Rs 50 lakh.
Sekarbabu also inaugurated the primary health centre at PK Garden, constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 3.08 crore and rehabilitation centre for the disabled at Rs 10 crore. Also, the foundation stone was laid for an indoor shuttle stadium at Rs 50 lakh.
Mayor R Priya, additional commissioner (health) V Jaya Chandra Bhanu Reddy, regional deputy commissioner (central) KJ Praveen Kumar, regional deputy commissioner (north) Katta Ravi Teja, chairperson of the standing committee (health) G Shanthakumari, and other senior officials were part of the event.
