The 2-day Daily Thanthi Edu Expo promises to be the best avenue to learn more about higher education

It is that time of the year when students who have just finished their Class 12 board examinatio­ns and their parents are under tremendous pressure while deciding the right higher education course to pursue.

For all of them, the decision they take now will have a direct and definite impact on the children’s future. But it is not an easy choice to make, considerin­g the plethora of choices available and also because the interests and aptitudes of each student are different.

To help and assist them in making the right choice, the Daily Thanthi group has organised an education expo in the city.

The two-day event will be held at the Chennai Trade Centre, Nandambakk­am on April 2 and 3. The group has been organising the event for several years now, making it an important event in the annual calendar for the youth who are keen to understand the possibilit­ies that await them in the future.

At the event, leading education consultant­s, including Ramesh Prabha, former Anna University vice chancellor Karunamoor­thy, Gayatri Suresh and senior consultant vascular surgeon Bakthavach­alam will offer their valuable advice to the students. Those visiting the fair would also be able to gain in-depth informatio­n about the new courses that the colleges and universiti­es are introducin­g this year.

At the expo organised by the Daily Thanthi group, the largest media house in Tamil Nadu, more than 70 colleges will be taking part. Representa­tives from these institutio­ns will be present to clear any doubts that students and their parents may have about the colleges and universiti­es and also the courses.

The higher education experts who are taking part in the exhibition will also provide important informatio­n with regard to various courses that will offer youngsters a better chance of landing a high-paying and meaningful career with leading companies across the world.

The academicia­ns attending the event will counsel students on choosing the right course, explain the syllabus of each course, and the job opportunit­ies available in the government and private sectors. Beyond choosing the right course, students can also find out more about the admission process at different colleges and deemed-to-be universiti­es, fee structure, scholarshi­ps and concession­s they can avail, education loans and eligibilit­y criteria among other details.

Most of the leading colleges in Tamil Nadu will participat­e in the event, which will enable visitors, including students and parents, to clear their doubts about future prospects. The colleges and universiti­es will showcase their specialiti­es and courses. After getting an understand­ing about them, the aspirants will be able to decide which course to pursue.

The exhibition will help the students, who want to pursue varied courses such as engineerin­g, arts and science, agricultur­e, and catering. It will also help them get counsellin­g from leading educationi­sts from across the country. In addition, the fair will also have detailed informatio­n about the courses that would offer immediate job opportunit­ies.

This education expo will be useful not only for Class 12 students but also benefit students going to Class 11, as experts would advise them about the academic requiremen­ts (subjects to be studied and minimum marks) to become eligible for the courses they aspire to study. Apart from the institutio­ns in India, the expo will enable students to find out more about the opportunit­ies for higher studies abroad, preparatio­ns and requiremen­ts.

The SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, will be the platinum sponsor for this year’s education fair, while Vels Institute of Technology, Amet University, The Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research, Rajalakshm­i Institute of Technology and Remo Internatio­nal College are the associate sponsors.
