PM’s toxic speech bid to stir religious hatred: CM

-

CHENNAI: Chief Minister and DMK president MK Stalin, on Monday, joined the Opposition bandwagon in condemning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s alleged hate remarks and termed the ‘toxic’ speech as vile and highly deplorable, while accusing him of trying to whip up religious sentiments fearing public anger against his failures.

Strongly condemning the PM’s remarks, Stalin on a social media post said hate and discrimination are the real guarantees of Modi. He also charged the Election Commission of India (ECI) with turning a deaf ear to the blatant hate speech by the Prime Minister and ‘shamelessly’ abandoning even a semblance of neutrality.

“The socio-economic caste census promised by the INDIA bloc is a remedy long overdue to create an egalitarian society. Sadly, the PM is

twisting it and depriving socially disadvantaged communities of their due share in education, jobs, and seats of power.”

Stalin urged leaders of the INDIA bloc to be “wary of the BJP’s devious diversionary tactics. We must firm up our commitment to exposing the miserable failures of Modi.”

Earlier, DMK Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan reposted a video of the PM’s communally loaded speech on X and said, “Rest in Peace… Election Commission of India. Even the pretense of free and fair election is not attempted (sic).”

On Monday, Modi reiterated the charges of Congress planning to redistribute people’s property if voted to power, but stopped short of saying that the wealth would go to Muslims.

Addressing an election rally in western Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh, a constituency with a sizeable Muslim population, Modi accused the opposition Congress and the Samajwadi Party of following a policy of “appeasement” and yet doing nothing to uplift the socio-economic condition of the community.

In contrast, he cited the enactment of a law against instant triple talaq and an increase in the Haj quota as moves during the BJP government’s term to help the community.

Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia told reporters that PM Modi only echoed people’s sentiments by calling a spade a spade. Bhatia said the opposition is in pain as Modi has shown them the mirror of its past.
