-

CHENNAI: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has forayed into providing high-quality and high-speed wireline internet access to its customers, following the nation-wide launch of the advanced version of Broadband Network Gateways (BNG) namely CUPS (Control and User Plane Separation) BNGs.

The new service will play a pivotal role at this juncture where the data services hither-to provided on copper lines are getting obsolete and are being migrated to optical Fibres To The Home (FTTH), a release said.

The telecommunication company recently rolled out the services from one such highspeed broadband CUPS BNG, which is deployed at the new Regional Point of Presence (RPOP) in the BSNL telephone exchange here.

The CUPS technology has been implemented to offer quality data services promising highspeed internet access at extremely competitive rates. Compared to the older technology, wherein the user management and control plane viz., data traffic management were bundled into one, in the CUPS technology.

Noting that BSNL is always ahead in terms of procuring innovative and state-of-the art technology in the internet segment, DM Ezhil Buddhan, CGM exuded confidence that the new CUPS BNG at RPOP of Chennai with latest technology, high quality support would certainly benefit the existing customers.

He also said this is bound to attract new customers especially in Chennai and other cities of TN circles.

BSNL has larger plans to commission the CUPS BNGS on a national basis soon as the installation and testing is going on a war-footing, the release added.
