Cong won’t touch 50 to gain Oppn status: Modi

-

CHATRA/PHULBANI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday claimed that the Congress will not win even 50 seats in the Lok Sabha elections and will not be able to get the opposition party status after the polls.

“Mark my words, NDA will break all records and will win over 400 seats this time. Congress will get fewer seats than the age of its ‘shehzada’,” the PM said in an apparent reference to Rahul Gandhi, and added that the bloc has already accepted defeat. Modi also said leaders of the alliance are planning to merge small parties post the Lok Sabha polls to attain opposition status.

Addressing poll rallies in Odisha and Jharkhand, Modi also flayed the opposition INDIA bloc for “insulting” President Droupadi Murmu after her visit to Ayodhya’s Ram temple, and asserted that the Congress will get fewer seats than the age of its shehzada’. “The mentality of the Congress is of the 18th century...after the President paid obeisance at the Ram temple, they talked about cleaning the temple...they insulted the President,” Modi said.

Modi further charged that Congress has decided to hand over the country’s assets to Muslims. “They want to snatch SC/ST/OBC reservation as well,” he said.

He also asserted that NDA governments will be formed in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Arunachal Pradesh where simultaneous assembly polls were underway.

Modi also accused the Congress of spreading fear among people by repeatedly suggesting that neighbouring Pakistan too has nuclear weapons that they could use at any moment. “These virtually dead people are trying to kill the spirit of the country,” he said.

When Modi becomes 75, there is no need for you (INDIA bloc) to feel happy. It is not written anywhere in BJP’s constitution (that people aged 75 will be retired). Modi will complete the term and will continue to lead the country
