Our Goal is to Dominate the Inspection Industry within the Next Five Years!
Delvitech plans to expand rapidly in India. Vasanth Kumar, who recently joined them as Head of Asia Operations, brings an experience of over two decades in sales focusing on electronics manufacturing related capital equipment, and leading business operations at a national level. We spoke to Vasanth to uncover their vision and plans for India...
Q. How i mportant is India for Delvitech? Why?
In our opinion, India is an important market not just for Delvitech, but also for all equipment manufacturers. With the many initiatives that the government has undertaken to make India a manufacturing powerhouse, this market has very high potential in the world. R&D in India is strong, and now the country is focused on manufacturing, so it is a complete ecosystem that can be exploited by other countries.
As a new entrant in the market, Delvitech has recognized India’s potential and has invested in India in terms of Sales, Applications, Service, R&D, Global hotline support and machine manufacturing.
Q. How would you describe your solutions to a CEO or a CTO of a firm you’re pitching to?
Our belief is that understanding the needs of our customers is the key to successful sales. A simple pitch to a non-tech CEO would be that Delvitech comes with a new 3IS ecosystem with Artificial Intelligence technology that has been built in partnership with IDSIA & SUPSI, two world-class institutes. Your factory will get the best output by addressing the most important pain points. A single machine platform can be used to inspect post-paste printing, pre-reflow, post reflow, pre-wave, and post-wave processes, making Delvitech one of the most powerful inspection systems in the industry.
With our highly powerful hardware and our very innovative software, the users will be able to achieve high-quality output without much effort on their part. Bringing out a system that will address every pain point the existing solutions in the market have has been our goal. Furthermore, we have employed Artificial Intelligence to further enhance the quality of the output, making us one of the first OEMs to have AI-based systems.
Q. How do you see the role of AI & ML in the domain of electronics manufacturing equipment?
AI & ML will be the turning key to achieving a “Light out factory” for the electronics manufacturing industry. AI can significantly increase the efficiency of operation and programming of the manufacturing equipment which traditionally requires a large amount of labour from skilled workers. This will allow a significant boost in the productivity and quality of the manufacturing process.
Q. Can you share some details about your current India setup, and your plans for the next 12 months?
We have recognized that India is an important market; we have established an office with a demo center. We have a sales, business development, and application support team, and we are currently expanding the team by adding hardware and artificial intelligence R&D. Lastly, we have started working on the potential of bringing the manufacturing of the machines to India and setting up a dedicated hotline team to support our customers 24/7 on a global level. Again, India plays a very significant role in Delvitech’s growth plan.
Q. What are your immediate goals for the FY 22-23?
We are currently working on setting up our team and developing a network for machine sales, while also focusing on improving our infrastructure with adding more members in the application development and service departments, and we are also working on developing the R&D department.
Q. Any goals that you would like to achieve 5 years from now?
Considering how ambitious we are, our goal is to dominate the inspection industry within the next five years not only in the Electronics vertical, but also in other verticals we intend to explore.
Q. How’s the Indian market reacting to your solutions?
Due to the fact that we are a new entrant in the market, we are certainly in the early stages of our development, but based on the limited discussions we have conducted with our customers, we have received good feedback, and we are confident our solutions will benefit them in achieving their goals.
Q. Any timelines you can share for Made in India products to be launched?
We are currently working on a wide range of things, and we are mainly excited to show off our new systems at Productronica India 2022 in Noida. The step afterwards will be to discuss the next steps and in the case of the potential manufacturing plans we have for India, we will let you know as soon as we are ready to announce it. ●
