CNN-News18 Man­ag­ing Ed­i­tor Rad­hakr­ish­nan Nair Passes Away

Rad­hakr­ish­nan Nair, the Man­ag­ing Ed­i­tor of CNN-News18 passed away in the wee hours of Tues­day, 27 No­vem­ber.

Nair was re­port­edly bat­tling post-surgery com­pli­ca­tions af­ter he un­der­went a kid­ney trans­plant a few months ago. On ven­ti­la­tor sup­port for the past three weeks, Nair passed away fol­low­ing multi-or­gan fail­ure on Tues­day.

Nair took over as the man­ag­ing ed­i­tor at CNNIBN (now CNN-News18) in Septem­ber 2014.

With over 25 years of ex­pe­ri­ence in jour­nal­ism, Nair started his ca­reer with UNI in Ker­ala and then moved to Delhi. His stint with TV news be­gan in 1995 with TV18. He also pro­duced pro­grammes for Do­or­dar­shan, BBC, Sony and Asia’s first busi­ness chan­nel ABNI.

He ven­tured into busi­ness news with CNBC TV18, a busi­ness chan­nel, fol­low­ing which he moved to CNN-News18 in 2005.

Nair was a Chem­istry grad­u­ate and a gold medal­list in Jour­nal­ism from the In­dian In­sti­tute of Jour­nal­ism in Thiru­vanan­tha­pu­ram. He held a Mas­ter’s de­gree in Com­mu­ni­ca­tion and Jour­nal­ism from the Ker­ala Uni­ver­sity.

Friends and fam­ily will be pay­ing their last re­spects to Nair at his Delhi res­i­dence on Tues­day between 12-3 pm. His list rites will be per­formed at his home town in Ker­ala.
