Number of drought affected taluks expected to cross 100?
Bengaluru: Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy hinted that the number of drought-affected taluks is expected to cross 100 in the state. Speaking at a development review meeting with the DCs, ZP CEOs and secretaries of all the departments through a video conference, Kumaraswamy directed them to get ready to tackle the drought situation.
“The poor have started to migrate towards major cities. The district administrations must stop this by creating jobs locally,” he directed. “There is no shortage of funds. Already 100 taluks are announced as drought-hit. More taluks will be added in a week,” he informed.
He also directed the authorities to ensure that enough jobs will be generated locally through various centrally funded schemes.
During the meeting, the CM also informed that Rs 450 crores have been released for school development. “The DCs and ZP CEOs must repair all schools and there should not be any complaint next year,” he said.
