BJP threat­ens protest if govt can­cels Hampi Ut­sav

Bel­lari: The Bel­lari BJP cell has taken strong ex­cep­tion to the state coali­tion gov­ern­ment’s de­ci­sion not to cel­e­brate Hampi Ut­sav, cit­ing the drought con­di­tion of the state.

“The Kar­nataka gov­ern­ment had money to cel­e­brate Tipu Jayan­thi, de­spite op­po­si­tions from the BJP party and other pro-Hindu out­fits, but has no money to cel­e­brate Hampi Ut­sav,” said Bel­lary BJP MLA So­mashekara Reddy on Sun­day.

He fur­ther added that Hampi Ut­sav should not be can­celled at any cost and threat­ened that if the gov­ern­ment does not cel­e­brate Hampi Ut­sav they will stage protest against the coali­tion gov­ern­ment. “If the gov­ern­ment has no money to cel­e­brate Hampi Ut­sav we will beg and col­lect money from the pub­lic to cel­e­brate Hampi Ut­sav,” he added.

Fol­low­ing So­mashekara Reddy’s press meet Wa­ter Re­sources Min­is­ter DK Shivaku­mar and Bel­lari MP VS Ugrappa will be meet­ing HD Ku­maraswamy to dis­cuss the mat­ter, in­formed sources. DK Shivaku­mar on Tues­day, Novem­ber 27 had an­nounced that there’ll be no Hampi Ut­sav in Kar­nataka this year as most of the dis­tricts in the state are drought-hit.
