BFI KICKS OFF WITH NATIONAL SAFETY RIDE

8100km ride is India’s longest yet

-

THE BIKE FESTIVAL Of India (BFI), touted as the country’s biggest biking event yet, kicked off with a nationwide safety ride–the l ongest conducted i n India till date. The event has been conceptualised by Rhiti Sports, and is managed by Event Capital, while Triumph Motorcycles is the official partner for the safety ride. It began on August 31, and will culminate at the BIC on October 4, where the finale of the Bike Festival of India will be staged over the weekend.

Eight riders consisting of six male and two female riders are on the safety ride across India, aiming to create awareness about staying safe on a motorcycle. We got a chance to catch up with the riders during their stopover at Triumph’s Pune showroom. The riders say they are generating awareness about safe riding through friendly discussions with local riding groups they meet, rather than discourses or lectures.

Ikjot Singh, VP of Event Capital, claims that the first edition of the Bike Festival of India will be unlike anything motorcycle enthusiasts in the country have ever seen. The finale is expected to be attended by over 120 biking clubs, while the Indian cricket team’s captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, known for his passion for motorcycles, is the face of the event.

The two-day festival will feature events including circuit races, drag races, stunt championships to name a few, and the organisers hope to promote motorcycling culture in the country through the BFI.
