We are one! But first, a confession

I LOVE FERRARI. YOU CAN UNDERSTAND the infatuation, growing up as I did with an F40 poster on my wall, going to bed at night dreaming of driving a red Ferrari in the Alps. But even that kid wouldn’t have dreamt up our cover story: five Ferraris lined up at the base of Nandi Hills, a medley of all those dreamy details: pop-up headlamps, side strakes, quad pipes, red cam covers, Momo ’wheel and that classic gated shifter. I’m still not sure if that was a dream, and that summarises perfectly what the Thrill Of Driving is all about. Giving our inner four-year-old something to dream about; making that kid go “wheee...”

Confession done, let me welcome you to the offbeat special. As you will have guessed from the cover, we are going to do things a little differently. While cars and bikes will remain at the core of everything, we will do even more fun stuff. Stories like the border challenge series, where to kick things off, Ouseph and Abhay (not quite) scaled the Mana Pass – the highest (sort of) motorable road in the world. We will bring in more petrolheads, guys with great stories like film-maker Sanjay Gupta. We will find roads that lead to offbeat adventures and interesting food. We will get muddy with a bunch of off-roaders. And we want you to be a part of it via the Thrill Of Driving Experiences.

Offbeat is a theme that we will build on in the issues to come – stories that will target that child. Because, deep within, what are we if not four-year-olds, loving cars and bikes and sharing our experiences with anyone who’ll listen?

Enjoy the issue, and once you are done, write in and tell us what the Thrill of Driving means to you.
