SUMEER TANDON

Technical advice consultant for Force Motors

Evo India - - Rfc Gurkha -

Building the Gurkha's for the RFC was a team effort. Force Motors has a magnificent R&D facility and they knew what we needed to build. The main challenge was that we had just 50 days to do this, so what we could incorporate was very limited. The second challenge was we had to use every ingredient from the Force line-up. Working with Force Motors and seeing their products, we were pretty confident that we would do well. We have done a very basic set-up – we tried to keep things simple so even if breakdowns happened, we could fix it quickly. The main thing here is the driveline should be strong and I feel the Gurkha's driveline is much stronger than the competition. You've seen Force Motors' Toofan carrying 30 people on our highways, so the basic car is strong and this is an advantage we have. We are using the transfer case from the Trax – it's a very tough gearbox and for us off-roaders, old, reliable, strong parts always work better.
