Honda Hornet 160 R

What is it?

The Honda Unicorn replacement. It gets an all-new look and some tweaks to the 160cc engine from the Unicorn.

Fun to ride?

It’s slightly slower off the mark than the Unicorn, even though it’s up on power. However, further up the rev range, it does feel a lot more poised, which makes it quite nice to ride.

The 160cc motor makes 15.4bhp of power and 14.7Nm of torque, which is one bhp more than the Unicorn. You tend not to feel the power until you’ve got the throttle pinned open.

Well it’s a Honda, so that goes without saying. Honda claim an impressive 60kmpl which is about what the other bikes in the segment also offer. But this is an average figure, we think the Hornet is capable of much better figures if ridden conservatively.

Very much. All the switchgear feels very reliable and premium. It looks really brilliant and because it’s a Honda, you know you will never have to worry about engine issues. At 80,000, it is a bit steep, but it is worth the few extra grand.

The newest kid in an already bursting 150cc segment. Does it have what it takes ?
