New S-Class is India’s first BS-VI car!
ERCEDES-BENZ SURPRISED the nation by unveiling the first ever BS VI vehicle in India, managing to do it a whopping two years ahead of the deadline. The silver lining here is that the engine is BS VI compliant but is compatible to run on BS IV fuel (diesel, up to 50ppm) that is currently sold at fuel stations in the country. The particulate matter (PM) limit and NOx emission of BS VI engines has to be 82 per cent and 68 per cent lower, respectively than its BS IV counterparts. The new S-Class makes use of emission control tech resulting in reduction of harmful exhaust gases. Merc also claims that even though the power output has gone up, the new car consumes up to six per cent less fuel. The new S-Class is due for launch at the Auto Expo in February.
