THE NEW FERRARIS ARE MADE TO POP your eyes out and make your hearts beat faster. The Italian marque has unveiled two new special-series sports cars christened the Monza SP1 and SP2 to celebrate the company's Capital Market's Day.

They're the first in Ferrari's new ‘Icona' series and draw inspiration from World Sports Car Championship winning iconic Ferrari barchettas like the 166 MM and the 750 and 860 Monzas. And as always, the team at Maranello has yet again created magic. The design of the SP1 and SP2 convey an ideal of ageless grace and minimalist form. Even though there's retro styling coupled to modern age techno-wizardry, Ferrari has equipped it with one of the best V12s ever made.

Ferrari will confirm a price for the Monza twins soon but don't expect them to be priced under 3 million euros. Propelling the SP1 and SP2 will be the most powerful engine Ferrari has ever built – a 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 that makes a monstrous 808bhp at 8500rpm and 719Nm of torque at 7000rpm. As a result the cars can sprint from 0-100kmph in just 2.9 seconds while 200kmph comes in at 7.9 seconds. And the top speed is more than 300kmph. The same engine does duty in the 812 Superfast and has been heralded as one of the best engines ever made in the history of automobiles.
