Old is the new CeeBee

The all-new CB1000R is finally in India and we get the loaded + variant

-

HONDA HAS LAUNCHED THE 2019 Honda CB1000R+ in India, almost a year after the CB1000R made its international debut. The Honda CB1000R+ is priced at ` 14.46 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and comes with a bi-directional quickshifter, engine cowl with badging and a front cowl as standard. Honda has not launched the base variant in India, but we should be more than happy to have received the fully loaded variant.

The Honda CB1000R draws power from a 998cc inline four-cylinder engine that churns out 143bhp at 10,500rpm and 104Nm at 8250rpm. The motor is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Despite the CB1000RR-based engine being almost a decade old, it makes for a perfect motor in the CB1000R, thanks to its extremely refined and linear power delivery.

The 2019 Honda CB1000R+ looks nothing like its competitors, be it the Aprilia Tuono or the Yamaha MT-09. As Honda calls it, the ‘Neo Retro Cafe’ pays tribute to retro motorcycles but with a modern powertrain and electronics package.

In terms of the package, the CB comes with 310mm twin discs at the front and a single 256mm disc at the rear. Although it is lighter than its predecessor by 8kg, it is still heavy with a kerb weight of 212kg. The CB will be sold in only one colour scheme for now – graphite black.

Alongside the 2019 Honda CB1000R+, Honda also launched the 2019 Gold Wing Tour DCT, the CBR1000RR Fireblade and the CBR1000RR Fireblade SP in India. The Goldwing now comes with Apple CarPlay and ABS as standard. You also get ride-by-wire which means an inclusion of four different riding modes – Tour, Sport, Econ and Rain. All this, for a price of `27.79 lakh.
