The mighty Versys 1000 makes a strong comeback
The mile-munching Kwacker returns with more equipment and a lower price
KAWASAKI INDIA HAS LAUNCHED THE MY 2020 Versys 1000 in India at ` 10.69 lakh. The Versys 1000 fits well among the crowd of mid-weight and full-sized ADVs and has been priced exceptionally well, considering the current market scenario.
Powering the Versys is a 1043cc, inline-four churning out 118 horses and 102Nm. Braking duties are handled by twin semi-floating 310mm discs and four-piston, radially mounted monobloc calipers with a 250mm disc at the rear. The MY20 Versys 1000 will be assembled at the company’s facility in Chakan, Pune.
It features Electronic Cruise Control, as a segment first and the new bike also features a softer setup for ‘more comfort’, says Kawasaki. Apart for ABS and traction control, it also features ride-by-wire with three riding modes for all kinds of terrain. Other features include adjustable windscreen, twin LED headlamps and a digital/analog instrument console.
The sports tourer is now ` 2.5 lakh cheaper than the predecessor, thanks to the CKD route chosen as opposed to CBU, like the previous model. The motorcycle will be available in pearl flat stardust white and metallic flat spark black colour. Customers who pre-booked the Kawasaki Versys 1000 can expect deliveries from March 2019. The Versys will have its task cut out as it goes up against the likes of established brands in the country including the Honda Africa Twin although its cheaper by over ` 2 lakh.
