With 5000km down, the RE continues to impress

IT’S BEEN FOUR MONTHS AND over 5700km already, and the Interceptor is still going strong. One Mumbai trip, almost ten Lavasa rides and a couple of weekend day trips have put the RE through a lot. Of course, it even plays the role of my daily commuter. Thus far, the front suspension has begun making some weird noises while the front disc too sings a song of its own. And that means the much-awaited second inspection at 5000km was due, just in time. The servicing barely took half a day as the workshop topped the fluids and cleaned the oil and air filters. does the pricing. Royal Enfield has priced the complete left exhaust assembly at a whopping `18,000. I’m not still sure whether to give a green light or wait for the muffler to arrive, which is bound to happen sooner or later. For now, I’m running with the dent as it doesn’t really affect the bike mechanically. Other than that, the tank’s paint has started fading and I think it’s due for a Teflon coat. I’m also looking to bring in some performance upgrades, so watch this space! ⌧
