THE BAJA ARAGON WHICH is held in the high-altitude city of Teruel is the third round of the FIM Bajas World Cup. The cross-country rally format is spread over two days with four stages ultimately adding up to 500km. Nasser Al-Attiyah had dominated the Aragonian terrain consecutively in 2016 and 2017, while his Toyota Gazoo Racing teammate Vasilyev won the 2018 Baja Aragon. Sherco TVS Rally Factory team’s Michael Metge was the defending champion for the bikes, and managed to hold on to the title again this year.

X-Raid Mini’s Orlando Terranova got off to a clean start in the first super stage for the cars. He was able to sprint the 164km route in 2hr 5.23min which was a minute faster than the bikes that traversed the same route. While X-Raid’s Terranova won three of the four stages, his teammate Joan Roma was consistently in the top in those three super stages. However, Roma managed to win the last super stage which was 164km long, putting him in second place overall behind Terranova. Jakub Przygonski finished third overall for a 1-23 X-Raid podium lockout.

Sherco TVS Rally Factory team’s Michael Metge was quick throughout the two-day rally, and was determined to take his second consecutive title. He finished the first 87km super stage in 1hr 8.29min, almost three minutes ahead of Juan Pedrero who was piloting a KTM 450 Rally bike. Tosha Schareina upped his pace, winning one stage and finishing second behind Metge in the last stage. Sherco TVS’s Michael Metge won the Baja Aragon for the second year in a row for the bikes, with teammate Lorenzo Santolino finishing in fourth place. ⌧
