THE CANON EOS-1D X MK II IS THE BRAND’S CURRENT FLAGSHIP AND a replacement for the original 1D X. evo India’s photography team is tasked with creating breathtakingly beautiful images of exotic locations and automobiles. But, a lot of effort goes into creating these stunning images, and more often than not, the conditions and the time we have to create these images is severely limited. Our posse of extremely talented photographers, therefore, require a camera that can deliver outstanding results in the most trying of circumstances. Enter the Canon EOS-1D X Mark II. With the ultimate combination of image quality, resolution and speed, the 1D X Mk II made some scarcely-believable promises. But, almost immediately after we started taking it for shoots, the 1D X Mk II delivered incredible results. The fact that it can do so is down to the top-shelf hardware that the Canon gets along with Canon’s legendary innovation, which has blessed the 1D X II with unbelievable ability. For instance, the 1D X Mk II can shoot at up to 14 frames per second (fps) with full exposure, which means that you can capture a staggering 170 images in 12 seconds. Such speed allows us to take multiple options of shots of fast-moving vehicles which other cameras simply can’t. Canon has made lots of changes under the skin, with an expanded AF area and a new AI Servo AF III+ system, which improves the tracking sensitivity for subjects that are moving erratically, much like the cars that you see on our cover pages. Canon’s latest adaptive 3D tracking system helps in this regard as well as adjusts to your movements as well as the subject’s, proving particularly useful when the photographer moves with the car ensuring that it’s exactly where the photographer wants it. On the body, the most distinguishing feature is the twin-grip arrangement, with a vertical grip being integral to the body in addition to the standard horizontal grip making it immensely more comfortable to shoot upright images.

The EOS 1D X Mk II has a brand new sensor with an increase in resolution over the original 1D X’s, from 18.1 million effective pixels to 20.2 million. That may seem like a low mega pixel count, but the 1D X Mk II is about speed and low-light shooting and that’s where it shines, making it just perfect for us at evo India.
