Season one of the X1 Racing League will have both Indian and International male and female drivers
SEASON ONE OF THE X1 Racing League, India’s first franchise-based motorsports league, will include 30 international and Indian racers divided into six teams, with champions like Arjun Maini, Narain Karthikeyan, and Gaurav Gill taking part.
Team Black Birds, Hyderabad, has Euro GT4 racer Akhil Rabindra leading the charge, with Team Bangalore Racing Stars picking F2 racer Arjun Maini and Mumbai Falcons choosing his brother Kush, himself an established karting champion. Others include British F3 racer Krishna Mahadik (DG Racing, Ahmedabad), Gaurav Gill (Team AD Racing, Delhi) and Superspeed Chennai auto-picking their team owner Narain Karthikeyan.
The male international racers include Britain’s Oliver Webb (Bengaluru), Malaysian Alex Yoong (Ahmedabad), Austrian Mathias Lauda (Delhi), China’s Frankie Cheng (Chennai), former Italian F1 racer Vitantonio Liuzzi (Hyderabad) and Danish Mikkel Jensen (Mumbai). Each team also has a strong female racer, like Denmark’s Michelle Gatting (Bengaluru), UK’s Pippa Mann (Mumbai) and Alice Powell (Chennai), Switzerland’s Rahel Frey (Ahmedabad), Denmark’s Christina Neilsen (Delhi) and Poland’s Gosia Rdest (Hyderabad).
The domestic roster includes Arjun Balu and Yash Aradhya (Chennai), Raghul Rangaswamy and Ashwin Datta (Delhi), Chittesh Mandody and Ameya Walavalkar (Ahmedabad), Sohil Shah and Karthik Tharanisingh (Mumbai), Vishnu Prasad and Nayan Chatterjee (Bengaluru) and Arjun Narendran and Anindith Reddy (Hyderabad).
The X1 Racing League kicks off on November 30 at the Buddh International Circuit, Greater Noida, with the next race on December 7 at the Madras Motor Race Track, Chennai. ⌧
