The Ather 450X gets a lot more than just a fancy paintjob
Ather’s 450X, Damon Hypersport and Triumph’s new Street Triple S
ATHER ENERGY HAS ADDED A NEW product to its portfolio—the Ather 450X in three models — Lite, Plus and Pro. It has been under development for the last year and is expected to hit the streets by end of July.
The 450X’s battery has gone up to 2.9kW from the 450’s 2.7kW and now uses the 21700 cells seen on Teslas, and range has increased by 10km to a total of 85km. That’s not all – the motor is updated as well, going from 5.4kW to 6kW thus increasing torque by 6Nm to 26Nm and gradeability is up to 20 degrees. The 450X now also gets a Warp mode, that will allow it to reach 40kmph in just 3.29 seconds. The processor too is claimed to be 30 per cent faster. Interestingly, despite the new tech, Ather has managed to shave off 11kg from the standard 450. It will now charge 50 per cent faster on public chargers as well.
Ather Energy will also be selling in more cities soon: Mumbai, Pune, New Delhi and Kolkata are some of the 10 cities on the cards.
