TVS enters the electric domain, Kawasaki brings in the new Z900 and a couple of BS6 launches

TVS iQUBE

After Bajaj, TVS too has decided to venture into electric mobility. The iQube Electric is powered by a 4.4kW motor, capable of taking the scooter to 78kmph and can sprint from nought to 40kmph in 4.2 seconds. The Li-ion battery has a claimed range of 75km on a single charge. There are two riding modes on offer with a reverse function. TVS has also equipped it with the Smart Xonnect Bluetooth connectivi­ty. TVS is offering public charging infrastruc­ture along with home charging stations for iQube owners. The scooter will be available in 10 dealership­s in Bengaluru in the first phase of its launch, before moving to other cities.

2020 KAWASAKI Z900

The new Z900 has been brought in limited numbers and is BS4 compliant. The biggest change for 2020 is the introducti­on of electronic riding aids like the three-level traction control and two power modes – Low and Full. Additional­ly, there are four riding modes – Sport, Road, Rain and Rider (customisab­le mode). The Z flaunts a new 4.3-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivi­ty. Design is slightly updated, made obvious by the new LED headlamp and H2-inspired fangs. The tank and tail section too have received minor styling updates. The bike continues to be powered by the liquidcool­ed, inline-four 948cc engine producing 124bhp and 98.6Nm.

HONDA DIO BS6 

Honda’s popular 110cc scooter has received BS6 treatment and is now powered by a fuel-injected engine delivering 7.68bhp and 8.79Nm. The Dio also gets a fresh design language, with a new LED headlight, taillamp and new graphics. Dio also gets telescopic suspension and a three-step adjustable rear suspension. Braking duties are handled by drum brakes at both ends.

SUZUKI BURGMAN STREET BS6

After displaying the scooter at the 2020 Auto Expo, Suzuki launched the Burgman Street in the BS6 avatar. It uses an allalumini­um single-cylinder, fuel-injected 124cc engine, delivering 8.5bhp and 10Nm. Though the power output remains the same as the BS4 model, the torque has gone down from 10.2Nm to 10Nm. There are no updates in the Burgman’s aesthetic department.
