The series-production Urus receives a comprehensive update
THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS A Lamborghini for everyone, but if there were, the Urus would definitely have to be it. The super-SUV’s appeal is undeniable, and close on the heels of the Performante comes the first full upgrade ― Urus S.
The logic behind this move you ask? Chances are that a typical Urus buyer, who would definitely be floored by the super SUV’s performance might not want something that is as hard-edged to drive around on the everyday commute, and this is why the S makes perfect sense, sitting under the harder and faster performance-focused, erm, Performante. It continues to feature the same 4-litre twin-turbo V8 in the Performante’s state of tune, producing 657bhp of power and 850Nm of torque.
The overall demeanour however can be tweaked, thanks to the adaptive air suspension in place of the Performante’s aggressive coil-spring setup and the drive modes on offer. In addition to the Strada, Sport and Corsa drive modes, there’s an Ego mode on offer too, allowing you to tinker with individual characteristics of the Urus easily. Tweaks have been made to the styling, with the S getting new bumpers at both ends and the alloy wheels now getting a different design too, with sizes ranging from the standard 21-inch to 23 inches. The glass roof is back on the options list for the Urus S, while the interiors receive revised colour and trim options.
In terms of performance, the Urus S is nearly up there with the faster Performante but the S serves a wholly different purpose, with an aim to target a wider audience. And you can surely expect the Urus S to rake in even greater numbers for Lamborghini in the near future. ⌧
