Electric vehicles and mild hybrids take over this month with two V8s continuing to sing their symphonies

ASTON MARTIN DBX 707

Aston Martin has launched the sportier version of its DBX SUV, called the DBX 707 in India, and it gets a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 697bhp and a colossal 900Nm of torque. This power plant is paired to a 9-speed wet clutch automatic gearbox for fast shifts. The DBX 707 does the 0-100kmph sprint in just 3.3 seconds and it will not stop accelerati­ng until 310kmph. It gets carbon ceramic brakes as standard and not to forget, those jaw-dropping looks which will grab eyeballs wherever it goes.

CITROEN C5 AIRCROSS

The Citroen C5 Aircross gets a styling update which makes it look more modern than before thanks to the slim DRLs and a chunkier front bumper. The interior has been refreshed too with a larger screen and a new drive mode selector switch instead of the earlier shifter. Cushier seats are on offer too, making the C5 Aircross feel even more plush.

2023 VOLVO XC40, XC60, XC90 AND S90

Volvo has updated its model line-up for 2023 with each of the models now getting mild-hybrid powertrain­s. The XC40 is the latest model to have made the switch from petrol to mild-hybrid along with a few subtle styling tweaks and apart from that, the XC90 gets a few updates to the features list, such as a new Google-based infotainme­nt system.

AUDI Q3

The 2022 Audi Q3 is a massively important SUV for the German automaker, considerin­g it has been a best-seller for Audi in the past. The 2022 Q3 comes with an updated design language with a massive octagonal front grille design, accentuate­d with vertical slats. Moreover, it has also grown in dimensions liberating more room on the inside. The interior gets new aluminium inserts and now comes with Audi’s virtual cockpit, while being powered by the same 2-litre turbo-petrol engine as before.

MERCEDES-BENZ EQS 580

The EQS 580 becomes the first EV from Mercedes-Benz to be made in India and it undercuts the AMG EQS 53 by a whopping `90 lakh. Visually, it looks similar to its high-performanc­e sibling the AMG EQS 53 apart from a redesigned front grille and bumper. It also gets the Hyperscree­n infotainme­nt system, which is a 56-inch end-to-end display setup. Boasting an ARAI-certified range of 855km, Mercedes-Benz claims that the EQS 580 can be charged from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in just 31 minutes with a DC fast charger.

BMW M8 COUPE COMPETITIO­N 50 JAHRE M EDITION

The M8 Competitio­n Coupe 50 Jahre M Edition celebrates 50 years of BMW’s M division and it gets a host of changes on the outside as well as the inside. Crucially, it continues to be superbly fast, being powered by the same 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine as before.

HYUNDAI VENUE N LINE

The Venue N Line is a sportier version of the popular compact SUV, and while it is powered by the same 1-litre turbo-petrol as the regular Venue, it now gets sportier suspension, disc brakes at the rear along with a few more features to justify the premium it commands.

TATA PUNCH CAMO EDITION

The main focus of the Tata Punch Camo Edition is its new foliage green exterior colour scheme. It gets a dual-tone option too with the roof finished either in piano black or pristine white. Moreover, it gets a new military green shade for the dashboard with seats wrapped in camouflage upholstery. The engine however remains unchanged.

MARUTI SUZUKI GRAND VITARA

The Grand Vitara twins with Toyota’s Urban Cruiser Hyryder, given that the Japanese carmakers were jointly involved in developing the hybrid SUVs. The Grand Vitara looks handsome with a high-set bonnet and muscular lines, but the talking point is obviously the sky-high fuel efficiency offered by the mild hybrid and strong hybrid powertrain­s ― just like the Hyryder.

TOYOTA URBAN CRUISER HYRYDER

The first mass-market hybrid SUV is here in the form of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and it is available in both the mild hybrid and strong hybrid trims. There’s all-wheel-drive on offer too with the mild hybrid and both powertrain­s deliver phenomenal fuel efficiency ― with an ARAI certified 27.97kmpl for the strong hybrid!
