The Mercedes-Benz GLA & GLB receive a facelift, along with the unveil of their AMG versions

-

IF YOU LOOK AT THE PICTURES AND try to figure out what has changed with the design of the facelifted GLA and GLB, you’ll have to peer closely, as both the SUVs have received a relatively subtle facelift for 2023. The front grilles are the main visual differentiator, now getting vertical louvres and horizontal fins in the design. The SUVs also get power bulges on the bonnet, along with new full-LED headlamps and taillamps. The interiors too receive updates in the form of wireless Apple CarPlay / Android Auto, along with an additional USB C-port.

Powering the GLA and GLB are a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol and a 2-litre diesel, with the petrols getting mild-hybrid assist. The petrol is present in two states of tune, 134bhp and 160bhp, with EQ boost adding an additional 13bhp. The GLB is additionally offered with a 2-litre turbo-petrol producing 188bhp in its lower state of tune and 221bhp in the higher-spec. The diesel is offered in two states of tune as well, producing 113bhp and 221bhp respectively. The go-faster AMGs are powered by a 2-litre turbo-petrol producing 302bhp. 0 to 100kmph comes up in under six seconds, with a top whack of 250kmph.

The AMG variants also look sportier when compared to the standard models, thanks to larger 19-inch alloy wheels with a 10-spoke design as standard. In comparison, the standard models get 17-inch alloy wheels, though 18 to 20-inch wheels can be had as an option. In addition to the standard equipment, the AMGs are offered with the optional multibeam LED headlamps. Inside the cabin, you get an AMG Performance steering wheel as standard. We expect the GLA and GLB to be India-bound, and to be priced at a marginal premium over the outgoing models. ⌧
