The Triumph Scrambler 1200 X replaces the 1200 XC, and is the biggest sibling of the Scrambler 400 X

THE SCRAMBLER OFFERS A GOOD BLEND OF ON AND OFF-ROADING

THE 2024 TRIUMPH SCRAMBLER 1200 X has made its foray into India and replaces the Scrambler 1200 XC. The biggest sibling of the 400 X, this is the top-of-the-line Scrambler that you can get in India; till the 1200 XE comes in that is. The scrambler format offers a good blend of on and off-roading, and appeals to riders who don't really want to hit hardcore off-roading trails, but be able to take on light trails and rough roads. The Triumph Scrambler 1200 has that familiar silhouette with twin exhausts mounted on the right of the motorcycle, The new Scrambler 1200 XE has a neo-retro styling that should bode well with modern riders, and it complements the equipment that Triumph has offered. The Scrambler 1200 X is powered by a 1200cc parallel-twin engine that makes 89bhp at 7000rpm and 110Nm at 4250rpm, and is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. The throttle body is now 50mm (up from 45mm on the 1200 XC), and has revised exhaust headers. There are five riding modes – road, rain, sport, off-road, and custom, and cornering traction control to aid the rider. The Scrambler 1200 X has a tubular steel frame and a twin-sided aluminium swingarm. The front gets a Marzocchi nonadjustable USD fork while the rear has twin shocks with preload adjustability; both the wheels have 170mm travel. The front wheel is 21 inches while the rear is a 17, shod on tubeless spoked wheels. This gets Nissin brakes with dual 310mm discs on the front, and a 255mm disc at the rear. The 1200 X has a seat height of 820mm, which can be lowered to 795mm with the optional low seat. On the features front, the Scrambler 1200 X comes equipped with a digital instrument cluster which can have turn-byturn navigation and Bluetooth connectivity enabled via an optional accessory. With all of that, the 1200 X has a kerb weight of 228kg, which is on par in the segment. Triumph Scrambler 1200 X is priced from `11.83 lakh to `12.13 lakh (ex-showroom), and goes up against the Ducati Scrambler 1100, which is priced from `13.40 lakh to `15.99 lakh (exshowroom). ⌧
