With Apple and Amazon entering the trillion economies' club this year, Indian companies and Indian states still seem to have a long way to go. Let us look at where some of the top Indian companies and states' GSDP (Gross State Domestic Product Stand).
Apple, Amazon and top 3 Indian Companies on the Fortune Global 500 list, 2018
In the Fortune 500 listing, Apple stood at the 11th position with a revenue of $229,234 million and Amazon.com at 18 with $177,866 million. While with a 23 per cent rise in revenues to $65,916 million, Indian Oil Corp (IOC) ranked 137th, up from its 168th position in 2017. While Mukesh Ambani-led RIL was the top private sector company from the country as it jumped from 203rd rank last year to 148th. It had a revenue of $62.304 million in 2017-18. With $51.219 million revenue, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) made a comeback into the list with a ranking of 197th.
GSDP of 3 Progressive Indian States
Maharashtra's gross state domestic product (GSDP), the highest among all states reached $ 387.36 billion in 2017-18. Whereas, the GSDP of Tamil Nadu reached $ 193.55 billion in 2016-17. Gujarat is one of the leading industrialised states in India and at current prices, its GSDP was about $ 172.63 billion during 2016-17.
