Nur­tur­ing the Bonds for Eco­nomic and Tech­ni­cal Co­op­er­a­tion

To ef­fec­tively reach out to the tech­ni­cal and eco­nomic vi­brancy and to fur­ther pro­mote trade and eco­nomic ties with im­por­tant Cen­tral Euro­pean economies, Ram Nath Kovind, the Pres­i­dent of In­dia, un­der­took state vis­its to Bul­garia and the Czech Repub­lic be­tween 4-8 Septem­ber 2018.

FICCI led a 62-mem­ber business del­e­ga­tion dur­ing the Pres­i­den­tial visit to both the coun­tries. This was one of the largest-ever business del­e­ga­tion to travel dur­ing any Pres­i­den­tial vis­its abroad.

In­dian business del­e­ga­tion had the hon­our of call­ing-on the Pres­i­dent Kovind in both Sofia and Prague wherein they spec­i­fied their sec­tors of business in­ter­est and their fu­ture business and in­vest­ment plans for both the coun­tries.

Dur­ing the business fora or­gan­ised in Sofia and Prague, Kovind un­der­lined the long-stand­ing cul­tural, so­cial and eco­nomic bonds In­dia has en­joyed with Bul­garia and the Czech Repub­lic. He un­der­lined that it was time for In­dian and in­dus­tries of both the coun­tries to fur­ther nur­ture the bonds of cor­dial­ity and cul­tural affin­ity to un­veil next level of eco­nomic and tech­ni­cal co­op­er­a­tion.

Ke­sav S Ku­mar, leader of In­dian business del­e­ga­tion for Bul­garia leg of the visit and Chief Com­mer­cial Of­fi­cer, Suther­land Global Ser­vices, in his wel­come re­marks, un­der­lined the need for deep­en­ing eco­nomic en­gage­ments be­tween the two democ­ra­cies in the field of re­new­able en­ergy, IT& ITES, de­fence, en­ergy, auto in­dus­try, en­gi­neer­ing, health­care & phar­ma­ceu­ti­cals, agri­cul­tural prod­ucts, food stuffs and bev­er­ages. Another area of

im­me­di­ate fo­cus could be perfumery and cos­met­ics since Bul­garia re­mains one of the largest pro­duc­ers and ex­porters of rose oil and rose oil­based prod­ucts.

In Bul­garia, FICCI signed a part­ner­ship agree­ment with Bul­gar­ian Small & Medium En­ter­prises Pro­mo­tion Agency (BSMEPA) for fur­ther cul­ti­vat­ing business and tech­ni­cal tie-ups be­tween the SMEs of both the coun­tries.

Sarpreet Singh Beni­pal, leader of In­dian Business Del­e­ga­tion for Czech Repub­lic and Vice Pres­i­dent-Strate­gic Business Al­liances, Home Credit In­dia, urged Czech com­pa­nies to ef­fec­tively and ac­tively reach out to In­dia and sup­port the coun­try's cause in de­vel­op­ing sus­tain­able, fu­tur­is­tic and mod­ern cities, to be­come the hub of top-end man­u­fac­tur­ing and to sup­port the na­tion's ef­forts to seek new and in­no­va­tive sources of en­ergy and her­ald new era of digi­ti­sa­tion in the coun­try.

The site and in­dus­try vis­its apart from struc­tured B2Bs were also or­gan­ised for the In­dian business del­e­gates dur­ing the vis­its.

At FICCI, we look for­ward to sup­port­ing the new threads of eco­nomic and tech­ni­cal co­op­er­a­tion ar­tic­u­lated dur­ing the re­cent vis­its by invit­ing in­dus­tries from both the coun­tries at the fifth edi­tion of In­di­aEurope 29 Business Fo­rum to be or­gan­ised in Fe­bru­ary 2019 in New Delhi.
