Nurturing the Bonds for Economic and Technical Cooperation
To effectively reach out to the technical and economic vibrancy and to further promote trade and economic ties with important Central European economies, Ram Nath Kovind, the President of India, undertook state visits to Bulgaria and the Czech Republic between 4-8 September 2018.
FICCI led a 62-member business delegation during the Presidential visit to both the countries. This was one of the largest-ever business delegation to travel during any Presidential visits abroad.
Indian business delegation had the honour of calling-on the President Kovind in both Sofia and Prague wherein they specified their sectors of business interest and their future business and investment plans for both the countries.
During the business fora organised in Sofia and Prague, Kovind underlined the long-standing cultural, social and economic bonds India has enjoyed with Bulgaria and the Czech Republic. He underlined that it was time for Indian and industries of both the countries to further nurture the bonds of cordiality and cultural affinity to unveil next level of economic and technical cooperation.
Kesav S Kumar, leader of Indian business delegation for Bulgaria leg of the visit and Chief Commercial Officer, Sutherland Global Services, in his welcome remarks, underlined the need for deepening economic engagements between the two democracies in the field of renewable energy, IT& ITES, defence, energy, auto industry, engineering, healthcare & pharmaceuticals, agricultural products, food stuffs and beverages. Another area of
immediate focus could be perfumery and cosmetics since Bulgaria remains one of the largest producers and exporters of rose oil and rose oilbased products.
In Bulgaria, FICCI signed a partnership agreement with Bulgarian Small & Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency (BSMEPA) for further cultivating business and technical tie-ups between the SMEs of both the countries.
Sarpreet Singh Benipal, leader of Indian Business Delegation for Czech Republic and Vice President-Strategic Business Alliances, Home Credit India, urged Czech companies to effectively and actively reach out to India and support the country's cause in developing sustainable, futuristic and modern cities, to become the hub of top-end manufacturing and to support the nation's efforts to seek new and innovative sources of energy and herald new era of digitisation in the country.
The site and industry visits apart from structured B2Bs were also organised for the Indian business delegates during the visits.
