Air In­dia’s khadi con­tract bagged by KVIC

air In­dia’s keen­ness to pro­vide khadi prod­ucts to its fly­ers has helped the Khadi and Vil­lage In­dus­tries com­mis­sion (KVIC) bag an or­der of ₹8 crore. The na­tional car­rier plans to sup­ply khadi amenity kits to in­ter­na­tional pas­sen­gers.

The amenity kits in­clude khadi hand san­i­tizer, mois­tur­izer lo­tion, hand­made soap, lip balm, khadi rose face wash and es­sen­tial oils. This is the third time KVIC has se­cured the deal from air In­dia.

In septem­ber 2016, air In­dia had placed an or­der for sup­ply­ing 5.75 lakh pieces of khadi soap cakes with the KVIC. ear­lier, in June 2016, it had placed an or­der worth ₹8 crore with KVIC to source 1.85 lakh units of amenity kits. In de­cem­ber 2015, air In­dia placed a trial or­der worth ₹1.21 crore to the KVIC to 25,000 units of such kits. KVIC chair­man Vi­nai Ku­mar saxena said KVIC has never com­pro­mised in main­tain­ing the time­line and qual­ity of its khadi prod­ucts.
