The Bi­har Sam­park Kranti Ex­press train is now adorned with beau­ti­ful Mad­hubani art on its coaches. Nine coaches of the train were painted in the tra­di­tional Mad­hubani style re­cently. “It took four days for a batch of 30 lo­cal women artists to paint a coach. The work in the first phase had com­menced on July 20,” a rail­way of­fi­cial told Hin­dus­tan Times. The su­per­fast train ser­vice runs be­tween Darb­hanga in Bi­har and the na­tional cap­i­tal. Darb­hanga is the heart­land of the Maithili lan­guage and art. The fa­mous Mad­hubani art form, which be­longs to the Mithila re­gion of Bi­har, is pop­u­lar for us­ing unique geo­met­ric pat­terns to cre­ate colour­ful and at­trac­tive paint­ings. Other than Bi­har Sam­park Kranti Ex­press train, the Ra­jd­hani Ex­press and the Jansad­ha­ran Ex­press are also be­ing dec­o­rated with beau­ti­ful folk art of the state.
