The Bihar Sampark Kranti Express train is now adorned with beautiful Madhubani art on its coaches. Nine coaches of the train were painted in the traditional Madhubani style recently. “It took four days for a batch of 30 local women artists to paint a coach. The work in the first phase had commenced on July 20,” a railway official told Hindustan Times. The superfast train service runs between Darbhanga in Bihar and the national capital. Darbhanga is the heartland of the Maithili language and art. The famous Madhubani art form, which belongs to the Mithila region of Bihar, is popular for using unique geometric patterns to create colourful and attractive paintings. Other than Bihar Sampark Kranti Express train, the Rajdhani Express and the Jansadharan Express are also being decorated with beautiful folk art of the state.
