In­dia keen to set up re­fin­ery in Myan­mar

To dis­cuss bi­lat­eral en­gage­ment is­sues in the hy­dro­car­bon sec­tor, min­is­ter of petroleum and nat­u­ral gas Dhar­men­dra Prad­han re­cently met the min­is­ter for con­struc­tion, elec­tric­ity and en­ergy of Myan­mar, U Win Khaing.

The min­is­ters dis­cussed the cur­rent and fu­ture in­vest­ments by In­dian PSUS in Myan­mar. Cur­rently, ONGC Videsh Ltd and GAIL have in­vested in gas pro­duc­ing blocks in Myan­mar. OVL also has stakes in ex­ploratory blocks in Myan­mar. In­dian com­pa­nies IOCL, Nu­ma­li­garh Re­fin­ery Limited and Hin­dus­tan Petroleum Cor­po­ra­tion Ltd are ex­port­ing petroleum prod­ucts to Myan­mar. In­dian PSUS have in­vested over $1 bil­lion in the up­stream and mid­stream sec­tors in myan­mar. He said In­dia is keen to par­tic­i­pate in mid­stream and down­stream sec­tors in myan­mar like es­tab­lish­ing a re­fin­ery, stor­age, dis­tri­bu­tion and mar­ket­ing of petroleum prod­ucts in myan­mar.
