India keen to set up refinery in Myanmar
To discuss bilateral engagement issues in the hydrocarbon sector, minister of petroleum and natural gas Dharmendra Pradhan recently met the minister for construction, electricity and energy of Myanmar, U Win Khaing.
The ministers discussed the current and future investments by Indian PSUS in Myanmar. Currently, ONGC Videsh Ltd and GAIL have invested in gas producing blocks in Myanmar. OVL also has stakes in exploratory blocks in Myanmar. Indian companies IOCL, Numaligarh Refinery Limited and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd are exporting petroleum products to Myanmar. Indian PSUS have invested over $1 billion in the upstream and midstream sectors in myanmar. He said India is keen to participate in midstream and downstream sectors in myanmar like establishing a refinery, storage, distribution and marketing of petroleum products in myanmar.
