enabling passengers to book unreserved class tickets, the ministry of railways has rolled out unreserved mobile ticketing facility known as uts on Mobile. The mobile app, ‘UTS on Mobile’, is developed by railway’s Psu, centre for railway information systems (cris).

The indian railways said that it wants to promote three Cs – cashless transactions (digital payment), contact-less ticketing and customer convenience. Booking of unreserved tickets on all non-suburban sections across all zonal railways has been made available from november 1 to obviate the need for passengers to stand in queues to buy the tickets.

For this, people will have to download the app on their android, ios, Windows-based smart phones. The daily average number of passengers booking tickets through this app has increased from 5,400 in 2015 to 4.70 lakh in october 2018.

a pilot project was commenced in 2014 on select stations on central railway.
