Hair - - The Style Guide -

The rains may have bid their farewell but have certainly left your hair looking like a monstrous mess; even after all the care you took during the light drizzle or when it rained cats and dogs. Yes, even though you did everything right—from checking the weather app, to shielding your tresses by being equipped with an umbrella or windbreaker. Additionally, despite using the right precautionary products, your hair still looks like a giant fuzzball. Now you’re wondering what more does a girl have to do to salvage the situation? Don’t worry we’ll straighten (or curl) out this problem with hair fixes.

1 Concern: The natural oils of your hair are stripped away during the rains, leaving the strands looking dull and lifeless.

Solution: A deep moisturising treatment that helps reinforce the hair’s natural strength and brings back the lost lustre.

Product Recommendation: Matrix Biolage Advanced Fiberstrong Masque is the ultimate source of hydration for your hair! Apply the mask on your hair after your shampoo-conditioner routine; leave on for 10 minutes and rinse. Use it once or twice a week.

2 Concern: Did you know hair falls more during the monsoons? According to hairstylist Amjad Habib, hair fall during the monsoon season increases by 30 percent.

Solution: The need to reduce inflammation, which in turn will repair the damaged hair follicles and stop hair fall.

Product Recommendation: Use Evion Vitamin E Capsules in a home remedy. Take one medium onion, blend it and squeeze out the juice. In the onion juice, add the oil of two vitamin E capsules (cut it and pour). Apply the potion from root to ends of your hair, leave on for 30 minutes before hair wash. For best results use it before each wash.

3 Concern: The colour from your hair gets washed out during the rains. You cannot avoid this problem, unless you lock lock yourself in a room during the entire rainy season.

Solution: A gentle hair cleanser will do the heavy lifting of— removing dulling residues, keeping the colour intact and sealing in shine and vibrancy.

Product Recommendation: The Body Shop Rainforest Radiance Shampoo and Conditioner. Use this duo every time you wash your hair and it will be the closest thing to magic you will encounter.

4 Concern: The increase in humidity is what causes pesky problems like dandruff, as your scalp becomes a breeding ground due to the wet weather.

Solution: An anti-bacterial and anti-fungal treatment, as it will put a stop to your dandruff woes.

Product Recommendation: WOW Skin Science Aloe Vera Gel. Take two/three squirts of the gel (or more depending on hair length), and apply liberally from scalp to ends of your hair; leave it on overnight. Shampoo in morning. Repeat before each hair wash.

5 Concern: The breezy weather, moisture and rain water, a.k.a the terrible trio, strip away the uppermost layer of the hair; making them brittle, rough and damaged.

Solution: Use a good quality serum to smoothen and soften the hair. With prolonged use it will reverse the damaging effects of environmental stress. Product Recommendation: L’Occitane Aromachologie Repairing Oil will give a good fight to your dry and damaged hair. Apply a pea sized drop (or a little more) on semi-wet hair after a wash, but use sparingly or your hair will look greasy.

6 Concern: Getting wet in the rains doesn’t seem like such a good idea anymore, right? Rain water makes your hair weak and more susceptible to breakage.

Solution: Main focus should be on reviving your hair, and bringing back the lost health. Once you achieve the two #hairgoals, shiny and silky tresses will follow the suit.

Product Recommendation: Moroccanoil Hair Treatment is a boon for bad hair. Use one pump of the product on your hair as a leave-in conditioner, post each wash. Or you can apply this on damp/ dry hair post your shampoo —conditioner routine, as a serum. The product has multiple uses: use it as a leave-in conditioner, serum, and applying the oil before heat styling for a smooth finish.
