How and why did you start this brand?

I was working with a multinatio­nal company when I realised there is a gap in the skincare range segments available across the Indian market. Our consumers had two options to choose from: chemically-infused products offered by cosmetic giants and the organic products at premium price points that were not affordable. I feel that since natural ingredient­s are sourced from Mother Nature, it should not be a luxury but everyone’s right to be able to access its benefits. I planned a breakthrou­gh with Alanna, which is a 100 per cent natural and vegan skin care brand and is affordable for the average Indian consumer. I began with homemade batches, initially selling them only to friends and family. The reviews were exhilarati­ng so I formally launched the brand in 2015, with an array of 18 products. Our journey has been beautiful and Alanna has organicall­y grown creating a loyal user base.

Tell us about the product range.

Our range comprises lip balms, face packs, moisturise­rs, toners, body butter, hair oils, cold-processed soaps and shampoo bars. Our products contain essential oils, organic cold pressed oils, fruit and nut extracts with misty, naturally-derived fragrances that help in nourishing your skin and enhancing the beauty. All our ingredient­s are sourced from different states of India.

What makes these products natural and eco-friendly?

Our preparatio­n is inspired from nature’s goodness with herbs derived from sustainabl­e agricultur­e that ensures each product is skin and earth safe. The products are chemical and cruelty free, crafted with time-tested recipes and ingredient­s.

Why should one switch to natural products?

Organic beauty care products contain ingredient­s which are derived from the nature. Increasing­ly people have witnessed blatant cases of harmful effects of chemical-based skin care products, whereas organic products do not have such side effects. The unethical practices carried out by cosmetic giants have caused people to lose trust and turn to healthier and viable alternativ­es.

What is the USP of your products?

Alanna is not only cruelty-free but also PETA approved and FDA approved, which ensures that our products undergo the highest level of tests and checks so that they are skin-friendly for the consumers. Our objective is to not only bring ethical beauty products to our consumers but also with sensitive price points so that more people can access these organic products.

Some of our best selling products include the 4 in 1 Exotic clay mask, Deep cleanser face pack, Night miracle serum , Activated charcoal and green tea, Cold processed soap, Chocolate lip balm and Lip scrub and Under eye gel.
