THE SHEER LUXURYY of lace has found many takersrs this season, and defines fall’s love affair with noir. Tom Ford showed both a grunge pant worn with a moto jacket, as well as a seductive gown (left), playing with this versatile material as only he can. And at the other end of the spectrum, Valentino’s Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli translated nun-like habits in lace backed with nude silk (right), creating a delicious, forbidden allure. However, since life isn’t a runway, a lace skirt Elie Saab is ideal for everyday wear. Just add a crisp shirt.
