10 Neelam Johal THE GIRL WE LOVE
GONE ARE THE DAYS of old Parisian maisons, where models would be hired full-time to act as muses and clotheshorses for the designer. The rise of the freelance model saw to the end of the institution of the in-house mannequin. But secondgeneration British-Indian model Neelam Johal has reverted to the old ways. The dusky 18- year- old signed a world exclusive with Burberry Prorsum to not only walk the ramp for the iconic English label-and this was the first time she walked the ramp-but also for its Spring 2014 print advertising campaign. Johal, who has been signed to London-based modelling agency Models 1 since the age of 14, shares space in the print campaign for the brand with a host of fresh British talents that Burberry’s Christopher Bailey put together: Actor Jamie Campbell Bower, musician Leo Dobson and models Malaika Firth, Matilda Lowther, Callum Ball, and newcomer Jean Campbell pose with Johal. Here’s to seeing more of her in the year to come!
