The other work drawing my attention is by the Azerbaijani artist Faig Ahmed, in particular, his work with traditional Azerbaijani rugs, which is an object so iconic and central to the Middle East. He disassembles them and rearranges them in a random order and sometimes creates sculptures with them. It’s a comment he is trying to make on culture, society, and structure. Ahmed’s technique is strong and consistent, and has grown organically over the years. Both of them are must-sees for all art lovers.
