To Get An Ac­cu­rate BP

Take your blood pres­sure around an hour af­ter you get up, be­fore tak­ing your medicines. If it’s high, check it again an hour af­ter you take your medicines. Avoid do­ing any­thing that might raise your BP be­fore you check it (e.g, drink­ing caf­feinated bev­er­ages, smok­ing, ex­er­cis­ing, and tak­ing medicines that raise BP. Uri­nate first, as a full blad­der also can raise BP. Sit in a com­fort­able chair, with good back and arm sup­port, and re­lax for a minute be­fore mea­sur­ing your BP. Avoid mov­ing or talk­ing while tak­ing the read­ing.
