Glam up with our skincare mantras
Dr Kiran Lohia, dermatologist and medical director of Lumiere Dermatology, New Delhi, gives brides-to-be valuable beauty advice…
DO’S & DON’TS DON’T: Try out new home remedies even if they seem harmless. You can have rashes or allergic reactions. DO: If you aspire to try a home remedy, make sure you try it out at least a month before the wedding. That will give you time to make sure your skin is not sensitive to it. Do not try multiple ones the same day or on consecutive days.
DON’T: Go for salon facials. Salonbased bridal programs can really mess with your skin. While initially you may look brighter, nearly 4050% of the time they can result in zits. And the pesky pimples will start erupting just when you can handle them the least. Furthermore, the results only last a few days. You want treatments that can last even after the wedding.
DO: Meet a dermatologist who will guide you on the facials that will be the most beneficial and effective for your skin, last for a long time and that can make your skin smoother and easier to apply makeup on!
DON’T: Go for long body treatments. Many salons recommend a series of 10-12 sessions/ scrubs/ massages to get rid of tanning. It takes forever and you just don’t have the time or energy to do all that during this particularly hectic time. DO: Get a head-to-toe treatment that combines diamond microdermabrasion, peels and light therapy for instant and long- lasting results. With just one treatment, your tan will be gone and you will save hours of your time.
DON’T: Allow your makeup artist to share unclean brushes or use any brand of makeup she or he wants. This may lead to major reactions on the skin and spoil not only your wedding day but also your skin for a long time to come. Do not try a new brand, or any used product in the parlour. DO: Start your makeup trials at least a month before the wedding, and use the brand of makeup that suits you best. Also, bring your own makeup brushes! This will protect your skin and keep it looking flawless during and after the wedding!
