A ‘H&N’ reader’s inspiring weight loss journey...
An inspiring weight loss tale by a ‘H&N’ reader
Iam glad to have picked up your November 2017 issue. This is the first time I read your magazine and I just loved it and I loved it even more when I noticed the ‘Success Story’ because I have one to share of my own. “I have lost 42 kgs over a period of one-and-a-half years. I was quite chubby from childhood. But things got really worse from 2011 to mid 2016. I had been ignoring my health. I had never worked out before and after school, and wasn’t involved in any sports or physical activity either. Gradually, I became more and more obese and I started losing interest in all my favourite activities. I weighed 125 kgs! “Not being able to enjoy my everyday life, I realised I was very unhappy with myself. During that time, I got a wonderful book by Rujuta Diwekar titled ‘Don’t Lose Your Mind, Lose Your Weight’, which literally changed my life. I read it carefully and started following the right eating habits, which included eating six-seven times a day. I started including rice, ghee, oil, peanuts, mangoes, bananas which are considered bad in so called diets. I was enjoying my food, eating everything, not starving and losing weight too. Everybody was stunned by this success, especially my family members. “After I came around 92 kgs, I bought another of Rujuta’s book ‘Don’t Lose Out, Work Out!’ Though I lost weight, I was still struggling with depression but after I started working out, my depression disappeared within a week! I hit jackpot! I was stunned by the effect exercise had on me. I had never been so happy in my life! Today, I am enjoying my life more than ever before... It feels amazing and I am always full of energy. “I want to tell all those struggling with depression: Give exercise a try and see how it feels... Exercise not just helped me lose weight; it changed the way I look at life. I am enjoying my work, and have become more calm and peaceful. “Today, I weigh 83 kgs and I believe that solutions are very simple if we want to achieve something. So just go after your goal!”
