Jobless, booked for criminal trespass, they suffer quietly

- Sat Singh letterschd@hindustantimes.com SIRSA:

For three woman peons of the 11 staffers suspended from Maharaja Agrasain Senior Secondary School on September 26, life is a living hell.

Bimla Luthra, 48, has worked for the school for around 10 years, but the management did not think twice before showing her the door.

A widow, she has a physically handicapped son, 24, to look after. Now jobless and a criminal case registered against her, Bimla is finding it difficult to make ends meet.

Runa, 26, had no option but to discontinue the studies of her two children, who were assured free education by the previous school management board for a year.

A fter Ra jender Ganeriwala took over as new management president on September 25, he annulled decisions taken earlier and Runa, a Dalit, could not afford school fee.

Bimla Sain, 65, had served the school for more than 20 years and never expected that she would be suspended.

The three women, along with eight others, alleged that they had been falsely booked for criminal trespass and were victims of “petty politics” as they shared “good relations” with the members of the previous management board.

Bimla Sain said: “The management has withheld my salary for two months. When I requested them to clear my dues, they warned me of arrest in the false case registered against me.”

School principal Shalini Verma, who is among those suspended, said: “When I observed that the academic atmosphere was deteriorating and the management was doing nothing about it, I resigned. But I fail to understand as to why am I being dragged into the controversy?”

Ganeriwala refused to comment on the issue.
