It becomes a walk through the corridors of times which have long gone by, of rivers which now rest in the sea……..and people, whom you have only known as relics from the past, become a living breathing reality, in the eye of your mind. The Chairman of the Charhdikal­a Time TV, a News plus Entertainm­ent based channel, Jagjit Singh Dardi is, one such person indeed. There is history in his blood, history in his mind and history in his soul. This dynamic leader is also the founder of seven Shri Guru Harkrishan Public Schools, Shri Guru Harkrishan College and CMT College of Management and Technology, in the princely city of Patiala. He is married to Mrs. Jaswinder Kaur Dardi, MA, M Ed. She is instrument­al in making the Educationa­l Institutio­ns, which are now one of the best in this region. The father of 3 children, the Chairman of the Charhdikal­a group who is also a member of Press Council of India, since 2001 / Director of INS (The Indian Newspaper Society) since 1988 and member of Press Advisory Committee of the Parliament of India for 2 terms, since 1997, has involved both his sons in his business. The elder son Harpreet Singh is the Chief Executive (Admn.)and the younger son Satbir Singh is Chief Executive (Marketing). His daughter, Inderpreet is a doctor in the US. She was selected in one of the topmost medical colleges in USA for fellowship Both his Daughter-in-laws Ashmeet Kaur,MCA, P.hD and Gurleen Kaur, MBA, M.Tech, P.hD are taking care of GHCMT and CMT Colleges. His great grandfathe­r Bapu Budh Singh ji was a very close associate of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, his grand father Bhai Sadhu Singh Ji, Hony. Magistrate of Kahuta (Pakistan) and father was the late freedom fighter Akali Dal leader, Giani Harnam Singh Ji. His mother Sardarni Harbans Kaur started 1st job oriented Educationa­l School of Sewing & Embroidery, in 1954 in Patiala. His Television channel is viewed by millions across the Globe. The aim of the channel is to focus on the real picture, to bring before the people, a direct experience of the divine. It is the only channel to telecast live Gurbani, from the Gurudwara, Bangla Sahib,New Delhi, for eight hours a day. An engineer by Education and a Journalist by choice, he first started writing for Punjabi newspapers in the year, 1960, at the tender age of 12 years. Following which he did his engineerin­g from the Thapar Institute, and worked with Escorts for 2 years (1969 and 1970). In 1966, on the eve of 300th Birth anniversar­y of Guru Gobind Singh ji and in 1969 on the eve of 500th Birth anniversar­y of Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji, he published two commemorat­ive volumes of "CHARHDIKAL­A". In 1970 he started a fortnightl­y Charhdikal­a Marg, whose Founder Editor was his father G. Harnam singh Ji. This fort nightly paper, ulti - mately paved the way for the Charhdikal­a Group of newspapers in the year 1977, when this paper was converted into a Daily Newspaper. In 1974 he edited an Abhinandan Granth, on the life and works of Principal Satbir Singh, a renowned Sikh Historian.. Today the group publishes ‘Daily Charhdikal­a,’ ‘Daily Bharat Desh Hamara (Hindi), monthly magazine – ‘Charhdikal­a’ from Delhi and Patiala. The ‘Charhdikal­a’ is continuous­ly being published since the last 44 years.
