State govt to roll out 29-cr e-office project in all districts
CHANDIGARH: With a view to regulate office procedures electronically, the Punjab government will implement the e-office project in the offices of deputy commissioners and divisional commissioners at a cost of `29.11 crore to provide one-stop access point to organise information and services.
An official spokesman said the workflow-based e-office system would replace the existing manual handling and transfer of files and documents with an efficient electronic system.
He said this new system comprised modules such as the file management system (e-file), knowledge management system (KMS) and collaboration and messaging services (CAMS) for conducting government office procedures electronically in a more efficient mode.
He said the e-office included electronic file movement, work flow automation, archival and e-record management, content and document management, collaboration and messaging service, single standard-based directory service, unified view of data, electronic communication and identity and accessing management role.
He said the project would cost `29.11 crore, including `11.50 crore on backend infrastructure and support, `6.66 crore on local area networking infrastructure, `7.95 crore on computing infrastructure and `3 crore on training labs and setting up a central registry unit.
The spokesman said this system would provide lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP) authentication, besides digitally signing and storing the documents.
