HISAR :After Delhi, a fake note of ₹2,000 with ‘Children Bank of India’ written on it in place of Reserve Bank of India was dispensed from a bank ATM (automated teller machine) at Hansi town of the district on Thursday evening.

The fake note came into a bunch of five ₹2,000 notes dispensed by an ICICI bank ATM when Mahender Singh, a worker at public works department (PWD), withdrew ₹10,000 from his account.

Mahender Singh told mediapersons that he had gone to Hansi to meet his relatives. Before returning to Hisar, he went to the ICICI bank ATM at Bhagat Singh road to withdraw money.

“I had heard about the fake notes dispensed by an ATM in Delhi, so I checked these notes also. My suspicion proved right when I found that one of five ₹2,000 notes was fake with ‘Children Bank of India’ written on it in place of Reserve Bank of India,” he said.

He said he reported the matter to the branch manager of ICICI bank who assured to change the note.

ASP Hansi, Rajesh Kumar said, “We came to know about the development. Though we have not received any written complaint so far, we will look into the matter.”

ICICI branch Manager Avinash Kumar later said, “We came to know about the matter and we have changed the note. I will talk to senior bank officers about the matter to get it investigated thoroughly.”
