Robbers hold elderly couple captive in Tarn Taran, loot SUV, gold
4 armed men thrash and lock them up in a room
Four armed dacoits allegedly barged inside the house of an elderly couple at Kot Dharamchand Kalan village, 20 km from here and held them captive on Tuesday night.
The robbers allegedly decamped with a Bolero SUV, a rifle, jewellery, one mobile phone and ₹22,000 cash from their residence.
The couple, in their sixties, suffered minor injuries as the accused allegedly thrashed them while forcing them into a room. The couple has been living alone at the house as their two sons stay in Dubai.
Giving information about the incident, victim Sukhdev Singh said he and his wife, Naseeb Kaur, have been living in the house alone for the past 10 years.
“Last night (Tuesday), I was sleeping in the lobby and my wife was in a room when a few armed robbers barged into the house and held us captive in a room,” he said.
He added: “The robbers flaunted sharp-edged weapons and snatched keys of the almirah from us. Later, they took away a rifle, foreign currency, jewellery and a mobile phone and a Bolero parked in the garage.”
After getting information about the incident, deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Pyara Singh reportedly reached the spot along with policemen.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) DS Mann said, “A case has been registered against four unidentified robbers and the accused will soon be arrested.”
