2 MEN, A WOMAN FOUND POISONED IN TARN TARAN

TARNTARAN: Two young men and a woman of Kot Muhammad Khan village of Khadoor Sahib sub-division, 20 km from district headquarte­rs Tarn Taran, died of consuming a poisonous substance in mysterious circumstan­ces on Friday.

The victims — Amritpal Singh (22), Satnam Singh (20), and Lovedeep Kaur (26) — were spotted at Chamba Khurd village on Wednesday evening as they had gone there to pay obeisance at a religious place there, sources said. The investigat­ing officer, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Lakhwinder Singh, told HT, “They were found unconsciou­s early morning on Friday near Khan Chabri village by some passerby who informed a private hospital nearby.”

“The hospital sent an ambulance and admitted them for treatment but, after finding their condition severe, referred Amritpal and Baljit to Amritsar and Lovedeep to Tarn Taran,” he said. The woman died at Guru Nanak Dev Super Specialty Hospital in Tarn Taran and the two men, said to have been best friends, were declared brought dead at an Amritsar hospital.

He also said they were headed for Goindwal Sahib “for some domestic work”.

Sources in the village said the trio consumed a poisonous substance at Khan Chabri village on Friday morning.

Police started inquest proceeding­s and sent the bodies for post-mortem examinatio­n.
