Moms will work as their kids play at Rohtak’s women police station
ROHTAK: Women cops in Rohtak will no longer have to worry about their little ones they used to leave back home while coming to work. All thanks to Rohtak Police’s new initiative of opening a colourful crèche in the premises of Women Police Station, the women cops can now bring their kids along to work and check on them anytime.
The police said women cops in the district leave their kids at home, sometimes without anyone to supervise them in their absence. The worrying mothers often rushed back home in case of emergencies, causing them trouble and also affecting their duties.
But now, they can leave their kids in the crèche under the supervision of a babysitter. The two-room crèche has been stuffed with toys and entertaining material for the kids. A portion of a park besides the police station has also been marked for the police women’s kids, to play outside on swings.
The police said families coming with their children to file complaints at the police station can also leave their kids in the crèche, so they are not exposed to the noisy environment of the police station that is often rocked by domestic quarrels.
“The need of a crèche was being felt from a long time. It will not only be helpful for working women officers, but also help us increase our output as police force,” Rohtak superintendent of police (SP) Pankaj Nain said while inaugurating the crèche on Friday.
