Four labourers arrested for raping, killing their aunt
JALANDHAR: The 50-year-old migrantwoman,whowasfound murdered on Sunday in Helran village, was raped before being killed,claimedtheruralpoliceon Wednesday after arresting four distant relatives of the victim for raping and murdering her
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said three of the four accused, who were nephews of the victim, were also invited to the function organised at the victim’s home on September 16, the day she went missing.
Victim’ssonsaid,“Meandmy mother spotted the uninvited accused and after an argument overhispresence,allfourofthem left the venue.”
Bhullar said to avenge the humiliation, the accused even tried to steal a cow owned by the victim’s family.
“But the victim caught them red-handed following which, the accusedforciblydraggedherinto anabandonedroominthenearby fields and raped her. They even hit her with bricks and stones before slitting her throat,” he said.
TheSSPsaidthathisteamalso recovered the Aadhaar card of one of the accused from the spot.
“He was immediately taken into the custody and on interrogation, he confessed to his crime. The other accused were later arrestedfromMandChowk,”he added.
SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar saidthechargesofrapeandother relevant sections will now be addedinthemurdercaseagainst the accused who have been sent to the police remand till September 25.
